The McLoughlin’s have farmed in County Laois for five generations, a rich farming tradition which is at the core of what Rosie and Jim do – producing delicious wholesome food using finest quality ingredients.

Situation 
Rosie & Jim Lean Journey began with a Lean Start, in 2014 when Pembroke Alliance were asked to perform a health check and look at the current operations and future plans. 
 
The business at the time, was making the decision to move its operation to fully Gluten Product. 
 
7 years later Rosie & Jim and Pembroke Alliance are still working together on continuous improvement, implementing efficiencies and achieving savings. 
 
Objective 
Reduce raw material costs 
Establishing cash contribution per hour on top 4 products after raw materials, wastage, packaging and direct labour 
Reengineer products to make them more commercially attractive for the UK market 
Green – completed the green questionnaire and got an Ecomap. 
Identify any production processes that could be more efficient 
Identify any potential new sales prospects through existing sales channels 
Project Outcomes 
Achieved raw material savings of €58k 
Identified and completed team projects that led to better production efficiencies 
Completed detailed analysis to allow visibility of cash contribution on main products. 
Reengineered products to make them commercially more attractive for Export Market. 
Turnover has grown 60% since the introduction of Lean 
Transformation of Production Systems and Management Structure to meet exceptional growth 
Results so far (Dec-20) – SAVINGS - € 500k plus 
2014 - Lean Start achieved savings of €58,600 
2016 - Lean Plus achieved savings of €307,000 
2017 - Lean Plus 2 achieved savings of €115,482 
2018 - Lean Transform funding 64% of € 416,000 cost
